Clover is a
story about those people whose lives have been affected
by the government's search of children worthy of a clover
status. The ranks of clover go from a single leaf to the
rare four leaf. Kazuhito is enlisted by the government
once more to fulfill his final mission: to transport Suu
any place she desires. Suu tells him she wishes to see
Fairy Park. Despite help from his friends, people from
Kazuhito's past try to trap the two. The sub-plot is
about a certain song named "Clover" that is
continuously played wherever the two journey. Suu seems
to have a particular like of the song. From the simplistic, beautiful artwork to the layout of pictures and text, Clover is a piece of art created by the people of Clamp. There is a type of magic about this series in the way that it shows different angles of the same story. Of course it includes those subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) messages that Clamp loves to throw out. The first two manga concern the girl of the four leaf clover Suu (above) and her protector Kazuhito. This first volume also deals with the actual meaning of "Clover". The third manga goes into the past, showing the relationship between Suu and Oruha, Kazuhito's deceased lover. The forth volume goes further back to tell the story of Lan and Gingetsu. This is a definite must see manga series if only to behold the beauty of Clamp. Rating -- 10 |
