Ah! My Goddess is about Keiichi, a very kindhearted college student
who accidentally dials the wrong number and gets in touch with the
'Goddess help line'. In answer to his call, the lovely goddess
Belldandy comes out of a mirror to grant Keiichi a single wish. His
wish - to have Belldandy as a girlfriend. While he half meant it to
be a joke, his wish is immediately granted. Now he is forced to move
out of the dorm (no girls allowed) and begin his life with a beautiful
goddess. After reading the first several volumes of the series, nothing has truly stood out about this shoujo romance. It has the feel of a bunch of filler episodes in an anime series without much to hold it together. If you have seen the OAV, you may be spoiled with the excellent animation quality since the beginning artwork of the manga isn't wonderful (and some of the clothing is rather frightful). Since there are many people out there who love this series, one has to assume it gets better. Maybe the first few manga are in place to introduce all the characters of this series and it picks up from there, but as is, the low rating is based off of the few manga I own. Rating - 5 |
